Demand a ban on "shock collars" for cats and dogs

Animal welfare experts and vets say the collars cause pain and suffering to animals, and the devices are ineffective and unneccessary, they should not be licensed as a means for the public to train animals, when training a dog or any animal by other traditional means is far better and safer.

" Electric shock collars "should be kept out of the hands of the public

Holyrood ministers yesterday launched a consultation over whether they should be allowed or made illegal.

The use of these devices used by people without training in animal behaviour or veterinary science is completely wrong.

The electric collars are a shameful way to treat animals, not only do these devices inflict pain and suffering on an animal, they can actually make the situation worse for both the pet and the owner.
